Trinidad and Tobago - tourism

There are plenty of places to see in Trinidad and Tobago. Both beautiful islands are unique in their own right and offer tourists their own distinct culture and lifestyle. On Trinidad, the capital Port of Spain is a must visit with plenty of places to see out here. A bustling metropolitan hub, Port of Spain is a lively city filled with plenty of good restaurants and clubs to keep you entertained. The best time is to come here is for Carnival when the entire city turns into one big party with lots of loud music and dancing in the streets.
In town visit the Queen’s Park Savannah, the largest public park on the island. Filled with locals throughout the year, this park is a wonderful place to come and immerse yourself in the local culture. Food stalls are also on hand out here to keep you from getting hungry. The Magnificent Seven along Maraval Road is a must see as well. Seven eccentric buildings though they are not open to the public are wonderful to pass by and absorb for their ornate architecture. The Emperor Valley Zoo, the National Museum and Art Gallery, Independence Square and Woodford Square are also some interesting places to visit in the city.
Outside Port of Span visit Chguaramas, the former site of a major American military installation during World War II. Now an important harbor for touring yachts, come here to explore this peninsula much of which has been declared a national park. A trip to Mount Saint Benedict and the Asa Wright Nature Center is also worth your while especially if you are looking to spend some time away from the bright lights of the city.
Along the northern coast of Trinidad visit Maracas Bay, the most popular beach on the island and then head east to the tiny village of Blanchisseuse, a great base to use if you are interested in hiking to the gorgeous Paria Falls. Along the western coast visit the Caroni Bird Sanctuary, the Waterloo temple and the Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust. Trinidad’s second largest city San Fernando is also located here. On the east of the island is the beautiful Manzanilla Beach, which is peaceful and quiet most of the year except after Carnival when everyone heads here.
On Tobago, Crown Point is a good place to base yourself as you explore the rest of the island. Here you can find plenty of accommodations with some striking beaches and excellent diving to enjoy nearby as well. Fifteen minutes from Crown Point is Scarborough the administrative capital of Tobago. The largest town on the island, do visit the botanical gardens here as well the impressive Fort King George, which offers some superb coastal views.
The Tobago Forest Reserve is another great place to see on the island, with some excellent hiking trails and good bird watching opportunities. Fro some quiet time head to Charlotteville, which offers some great swimming, kayaking and diving in the area.
