During the meeting, Tuhtayev talked about the priorities of Tashkent, which has a population of 2.5 million people. He also told the Riga mayor about various projects the city is implementing at the moment, LETA reported.
Tuhtayev also emphasized that Uzbekistan's economy has been developing rapidly the past several years, and the exports volumes are larger than import volumes. He pointed out that transit cargo to troops in Afghanistan go through Uzbekistan via the Port of Riga.
The Tashkent mayor also pointed out that due to the fact that Uzbekistan is rich in natural gas, the price of the energy resource is substantially cheaper than in neighboring countries.
On the other hand, Usakovs talked about Riga's priorities and current projects, like the development of Riga Airport.
The Riga mayor also invited Tuhtayev to visit the Latvian capital during the Riga City Festival, which will take place on 20-22 August.
