Prime Minister Tillman Thomas to dissolve the entire Board of Directors

In October 2009, the government of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas dissolved the entire Board of Directors that was appointed over a year ago to supervise the state-owned Gravel & Concrete corporation.
This company has been making bad news in recent weeks due to an internal friction between the Chairman of the Board, Colin La Borie and Acting General Manager, Eon Mars. The Prime Minister once again proved that he can be very decisive in taking action in the national interest. It appears that the Minister of Works and Public Utilities, Joseph Gilbert was showing signs of being indecisive and it was the Prime Minister who urged the minister to take action in the Gravel & Concrete impasse.

In July 2009, the National Democratic Congress took a clear victory in elections, taking 11 parliamentary seats to the New National Party's four. The surprise win denied Keith Mitchell a fourth term in office, and Tillman Thomas of the NDC took over as prime minister.
As Grenada is a full and participating member of both the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). As such the country must have stability in it's political life to prosper.
